General Note
Proofs are part of a four part collection depicting various stages of the printing process used in the production of AM Wegesrand. Collection includes: 1. AM Wegesrand. Wood blocks: 27 woodcuts on 23 woodblocks. 2. AM Wegesrand. First proofs: 24 prints, printed in black, hand-colored on Japanese paper, with text sketched in graphite, matted and enclosed in a red cardboard portfolio. 3. AM Wegesrand. Miscellaneous proofs: 8 folders containing proofs in various stages of production, including hand-coloring and calligraphy and a complete set of uncolored signatures. 4. AM Wegesrand: The completed book which contains 24 woodcuts in color by Fritz Kredel, and German poetry as background written out by George Salter. Each component is cataloged separately.

Proof numbering reflects numbers on woodblocks.

Folder 1: 19 proofs of woodcuts pulled and colored by Fritz Kredel, some in more than one version, on 18 sheets of Japanese paper, size ranging from 19 x 14 cm. to 26 x 16 cm. ; 7 black and white proofs of woodcuts on Japanese paper, 25 x 16 cm. ; 1 black and white proof of woodcut on green paper, 10 x 12 cm.
