John D. and his Uncle David, the world-famous portrait artist, write letters reporting their efforts to find elusive prankster Br'er Rabbit, aided by his favorite victim, Br'er Fox, and other familiar characters.
When a world famous artist disappears, his nephew pieces together the clues found on the backs of a group of portraits, which feature characters from Mother Goose, Grimm, and Aesop, to decipher where the artist went and where to send the pictures.
